Suraj Harish, P.Eng., is a civil engineer and former City of Ottawa senior project manager with more than three decades of experience delivering the infrastructure residents rely on every day.
Throughout his career with the former Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton and the City of Ottawa, Suraj helped lead major roadway, transitway, watermain, stormwater, and community infrastructure projects from early planning and public consultation through design, construction, and completion. His work includes road widening, bus rapid transit planning, safer intersections, water-service upgrades, and stormwater facilities across Ottawa.
Suraj understands that strong municipal leadership means listening to residents, managing public dollars responsibly, and delivering practical results. He is running for Mayor to bring experienced, accountable leadership to City Hall and to ensure Ottawa’s roads, infrastructure, and services work better for everyone.

Pavement Surface and Potholes
Ottawa is a beautiful city, but lately I have noticed that road surfaces on many streets are in very poor condition. There are numerous potholes appearing across the city, and over time, these potholes become larger and more dangerous.
When drivers travel at the posted speed limit and their vehicles hit these potholes, it can cause serious damage to tires, wheels, suspension systems, and other parts of the vehicle.
There are also many cracks and deteriorating surfaces on our roads. These problems need to be addressed before they become more expensive and difficult to repair.
Our roads should be safe, smooth, and properly maintained. Ottawa residents deserve better road infrastructure.
Freeze on Property Taxes
If elected, I will implement a four-year freeze on property taxes. I understand that this will not be an easy task, but I am committed to finding responsible solutions that protect residents from rising costs.
Pavement Markings
Pavement markings in many areas are faded and difficult to see, especially at night and during rainy weather. I will work to improve the quality and visibility of road markings so that they remain bright, reflective, and clearly visible in all weather conditions.
